FIRST SONG IN THE MORNING
José Araujo de Souza
let my eyes open,
this morning under the sunlight
and that I see flowers, green of forests
and the love of children.
Let my feet guide me to good
and that a smile persists on my lips,
throughout the day.
May I smile the crying friend
and, if necessary, to feed and heat it.
Leave it, Lord, for a moment,
that I dream of being with You.
Make my hands never close
on this peaceful day, denying aid.
May I be just what I am now.
That pride, wickedness, disobedience
don’t make me be gross, inhuman.
And that night, Lord, I don’t lie down
without clearly reviewing my mistakes
and that I promise myself and the Lord,
don’t commit them anymore if tomorrow
Let my God, this song
be my bread of life and food
that will make me a purer being.
May my hand never rise
to hurt the brother who torments me.
May the truth be a constant
in my life, and that I don’t lie.
Let it be, Lord My Father and King of the World,
may I be useful to my neighbor
and that helps you to be good and happy and fair,
comfort you and if the time comes
of my farewell, I am strong.
So that I can deserve heaven, Lord,
allow me to be good and never
of You give up.
